Track and Field

Eastern had a track meet on Friday that was actually at Eastern, and I took a bunch of photos for the Progress. Here are some cool perspective shots that happened along the way("perspective" is really meaningless because every photo has a perspective, but hey whatever). The last photo is more a DoF shot.

Dual Flash Photos

I used two Nikon flashes on manual, triggered by a pocket wizard on my camera. First, I skewed my white balance to make the photos look very blue. Then, I used one flash with a strip of CTO (Color Temperature Orange) gel on the subject and one ungelled flash on the background. The CTO warmed the subject back up and made them appear to have a normal hue, while the white balance made the ungelled flash in background look very blue.

On these two images, I unscrewed the light bulb in my refrigerator, then placed the CTO-gelled flash on the top shelf of the refrigerator, aimed straight up. Then I place the ungelled flash on the floor in the background. I used f/7.1-11 apertures to reduce the flash brightness.

On this image, I placed a white piece of paper over the screen of the laptop and bounced the CTO-gelled flash off of it. I placed the ungelled flash on the floor behind the couch, pointed straight up. I had my brother pose with his head and hands over top of the ungelled flash, creating the spooky shadow.
